There is little traffic on our road so a leisurely walk could be just the ticket or you

might just want to sit and relax on the covered deck while watching the world go by.

If you like BIKING the New River Trail State Park is close by. It is a 57 mile long state park

that follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way and parallels the scenic New River for 39 miles.

There are trestles and tunnels as well as wildlife and wildflowers to see. Most of the Trail is not strenuous for even the beginning cyclists.

You can also take a stroll on the trail if you are so inclined.

 

GOLF is available at several area golf courses. Skyland Lakes is 10 miles south off the parkway at Milepost 207.

Blue Ridge Golf Course is between Hillsville and Galax, approximately 15 miles away. Old Mill Golf Course is just north on the parkway at Milepost 187.

Draper Valley Golf Course in Dublin, VA, is rated 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest and is 30 miles from Fancy Gap.

All courses are 18 holes and we will be happy to arrange tee times.

 

If FISHING is your game, we have several state stocked trout streams close by as well as Crooked Creek State Wildlife pay trout stream.

They stock each day from April to September. Trout stamps are $5.00 plus a fishing license.

HIKING is all around. Just North on the parkway is Rocky Knob Visitors Center with the Rock Castle Gorge Trail near by.

There are several short walks at different parkway overlooks. For the real enthusiast, we can suggest a day hike at

Stone Mountain State Park, just south in North Carolina. This park is a large rock out cropping like Stone Mountain,

Georgia, but smaller. This is not for the faint of heart, but a great day outing.

 

WINERIES are quickly becoming a real local attraction. There are several in our area.

Chateau Morrisette is north of us off the parkway about 27 miles at Milepost 171 ½.

There are tours of the winery and an award winning restaurant serving lunch and dinner.

Reservations are essential for dinner and recommended for lunch.
